La Mode Verte
Environmental Awareness Through Media ProductionsThe Purpose of La Mode Verte
La Mode Verte is a non-profit organisation founded by Ed Scott-Clarke. It is dedicated to raising awareness of environmental causes through documentary film production. It is worrying that in an economically uncertain world , green issues have been somewhat sidelined. The direct connotation of this is that the sustainable exploitation of the environment can only be achieved during times of financial success. LMV does not believe that the two have to be mutually exclusive.
La Mode Verte’s last film was called ‘Plastic Shores‘ (see the trailer below); a documentary that seeks to raise awareness on the detrimental effects of man-made plastics on the marine environment as well as on human health. In the beginning of 2011, the LMV team, together with the production company Dusty Pockets Productions, travelled to the US west coast to begin filming. Here, the so-called ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’ swells representing probably the best known phenomenon of marine debris. We visited many experts and campaigners in the field there and attended the 5th International Marine Debris Conference in Hawai’i. Since April, LMV has taken on the role as production company and has been filming around the British Isles and the Cayman Islands. Plastic Shores was premiered at the United Nations Regional Information Centre’s Ciné-ONE in Brussels for World Water Day on the 22nd March.
Following the successful showing at the Geothe Institute for the UN, Plastic Shores had one final preview in Kew Village, London, hosted by Greener Upon Thames, before our main launch in the Soho Hotel, London on the 4th May. We shall be giving a constant update of showings here and on the film’s website: www.plasticshoresmovie.com where the film is now available to purchase.
LMV is now working on two new documentaries: one about the marine ecosystem in the Cayman Islands and the other about the preservation of Cleopatra’s Needle on London’s Embankment. Regular updates will be posted on the LMV blog.
